Research

Research activities in Dr. Oldak’s lab are supported by NIH-NIDCR and involves application of in vitro, in vivo and cell culture models to investigate molecular mechanisms that govern the formation and mineralization of dental enamel by and with the apatite minerals. Dr. Oldak integrates physical chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, biotechnology, and biomaterials sciences in the study of mineralization of tooth enamel. Her lab is also seeking to develop translational approaches to engineer an enamel layer that will have a robust chemical attachment to natural enamel and dentin.
